Geoff and Judy Thomas have decided to retire from the shop.
Our lease expires in September 2012, and we are seeking quality businesses to take the assignment who will continue to give first class service to our customers in Skipton, Craven and to those who travel from near and far to come to us.
We give our sincere thanks to customers and staff over the past thirty five years.

This website is an important part of Thomas's business. We know you will have questions about any possible purchase, and senior staff check regularly the incoming e-mail enquiries, and field the numerous local and international telephone calls.
Normally we operate a five day week from Tuesday to Saturday, and work from 09.30 til 17.00hrs with a half hour break for lunch at 12.30.. You speak to a person when you telephone during those time. Please remember if phoning from abroad that we work UK shop hours and close Sunday and Monday.
Thomas's web pages are organised into departments based on the types of stock; and like our shop windows the pages can only show some of the stock from some of the departments.
We try to get the new jewellery onto the pages quickly. Our regular customers tell us that they keep coming back because we seek out and offer something different - something special. We like to think that the slogan "thoughtfully chosen by us .... and by you" really does apply.
Georg Jensen Silver Jewellery. We've stocked Georg Jensen since the day we opened in April 1977, prior to that I introduced it to a famous Oxford Street store in W1 where I was the Jewellery Manager, and before that I worked for Georg Jensen as a wharehouseman in Bond Street when I was 18. So I have a lot of history with the firm. At times it has been a bumpy ride! However I am commited to the fabulous designs in silver, whether that be the early styles of Georg Jensen, the fifties look of "Modern Danish" through to the interpretations of Vivianna. We stock a rolling selection of Silver Jewellery so it is worth checking if we have what you want, otherwise we must order it for you and have it hallmarked if it is greater than 7.5 grams. Be aware that many on-line retailers do not require Georg Jensen to hallmark their jewellery made for the UK market, indeed sales direct from Denmark may or may not have the international convention mark.

Three gemmologists [Fellows of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (FGA)] of whom two are diamond members of the Gemmological Association, (DGA). This level of membership is only awarded when you have passed rigorous examination by one of the world's leading gemmological organisations. So when we inspect a gemstone, we do know what to look for, both in diamonds as well as the most popular gemstones.

Watch Out! There is a scam involving fake white gold chains, with block links with triangle terminations. Stamped 750 they have smudged italian makers numbers. These are steel! They were popping up all over the UK in August 2009, and no doubt there are plenty still about. If you got caught out -take the loss don't risk trying to pass the fake on.
Another scam plays on your emotions. We all like to help someone in distress. So when a man with a car full of kids at a service station tells you that he has run out of money or had his cards stolen and offers to sell you his heavy ring stamped 750 for say £50 and you feel that you can't loose - well you can! We see these rings regularly from good samaritans, and also from people who thought that they were on a winner because they bartered the price down.
It is a legal requirement that anyone offering precious metals for sale by way of business must display a hallmarking sign. Hallmarks are your consumer protection. Plus some personal comments that may help you understand some finer points about assay marks under the new regulations. You also get paid more for hallmarked scrap than for non hallmarked or imported (maybe smuggled) gold.
Finger sizes is a useful tool for converting the different national and international systems for finger measurement.
